The History of Bingo
Bingo has very similar traces to lottery - the random calls, the numbers, and the cards. This is not a coincidence. In fact, experts agree that the earliest memories of Bingo have been found to be inclined with an old Spanish lottery game called Lo Giuoco Code Loto. It was played as early as 1530s. By 1700s, the game has completely evolved and has touched other European countries.
It was not until late 1920s, however, that Bingo started to take a more concrete form. The game was then called Beano. Edwin Lowe discovered it at a carnival. Dried beans, rubber stamps, and cardboards are the basic equipments of the game. As Lowe learned the ropes of the game, he became so attached to it that he decided to carry the idea with him to New York. There, he started a Beano community composed mostly of friends. In one of their friendly games, Lowe's friend shouted Bingo instead of Beano and that was said to be the start of Bingo's history.
Within a decade of being played between friends, Bingo earned a popularity like no other. It became the favorite game in social gatherings and whatnots. Today, Bingo games are mostly played for charity. It is used by many organizations as a way of raising money to reach out to those who have limited resources for a decent life. The basic reason for this is probably the fact that Bingo is mostly a fun game. It is not highly competitive because luck is very well a significant factor to spell a win.
That being said, Bingo remains to be a popular casino game. Anywhere you go, you will find halls roaring with Bingo fun.
For the most part, Bingo is played on very modest stakes. That does not mean, however, that you cannot win an impressive amount from the game. Jackpots are designed to serve different audiences. A highly exciting game is mostly characterized by progressive jackpots that increase after every session until the right combination is won. At other times, a Bingo jackpot is made more impressive for extremely lucky players who win after a specific amount of numbers are called.
No matter what, Bingo continues to give life to the legacy of its discoverer. If ever it is not played within a bunch of friends, players in the same Bingo hall at the same time become friends in the process. Even virtual players are provided with the opportunity to make social connections while at play through highly technological components added to the game.
